Gather your friends and family and head to Paoli Peaks this winter! From its true slopestyle terrain park to the beginner freestyle park, this premier mountain resort offers something for everyone. Snowboarding, skiing, and arctic blast tubing is sure to be fun for all ages. After hitting the slopes, cozy up at the spacious main lodge with pizza, hot chocolate and a ski bar for the 21+ crowd.
Winter Hiking
Our region’s National Forests and State Parks create breathtaking winter views. The trails are even more beautiful with a glittery fresh dusting of snow. Ready to explore? Plan your visit to Spring Mill State Park to see the magical Twin Caves and springs of never-freezing water for yourself. Hoosier National Forest’s Hemlock Cliffs one-mile trail guides you through a canopy of tall evergreen trees, sandstone formations, and waterfalls that are stunning when frozen. Or take in the frosty lake views at Ferdinand State Forest’s Hardwood Lake Trail creating the perfect environment for some spectacular winter photography.
Festive Holiday Season Fun
Start a family tradition Clark Griswold style and head out to Ratkovich farm! Open on weekends in December, choose from their huge selection of precut Canaan and Fraser Firs. Wander through the picture-perfect fields of trees and maybe even pick out a tree for next year! Lastly, huddle up with plenty of snacks and s’mores around the toasty bonfire.
Experience more festive fun on December 20th in Downtown Jasper with its Shop and Sip Around the Square event. Shop the boutiques, indulge in small bites, enjoy craft cocktails, and sing your heart out with some seasonal caroling. Warm up by the community fire pit on the square and stay merry with live music playing from 5-7 pm. You can also Visit Santa in the Square from 12- 3 pm every weekend this December through Christmas.
Equestrian Excursions
Saddle up and enjoy a unique tour of The Stables at the French Lick Resort. Bring the whole family out to meet their 27 horses and their caretakers, while getting a look behind the scenes at what life is like at The Stables. Through December 24th at the West Baden Springs Hotel, take in the beauty of the French Lick Resort with a horse-drawn carriage ride, sure to set the scene for a festive date or family bonding activity.
