195th Annual Pekin 4th of July Festival
When: July 3-4, 2025
Finding the perfect place to celebrate the Fourth of July is easy in Southern Indiana. Head to Washington County for the 195th Annual Pekin 4th of July Festival. This is the oldest consecutive Independence Day celebration in the United States. With royalty contests, parades, and tournaments, you won't want to miss a piece of living history!
Linton Freedom Festival

How does a week-long celebration with Indiana’s largest Independence Day parade sound? Pretty amazing, right? The Linton Freedom Festival in Greene County is a can’t-miss experience. The parade brings in nearly 40,000 people every year, so bring family and start your Independence Day celebration early. This festival is perfect for families, especially those who enjoy carnivals, arts & crafts, live bands, and lip sync contests.
Shoals Catfish Festival
When: July 4-6, 2025
Going on 40 years strong, the Shoals Catfish Festival is the perfect combination of Southern Indiana charm and festival fun. Held in Martin County, the Shoals Catfish Festival is a beloved tradition where you can indulge in, you guessed it, catfish! Amongst all the fish you can eat, you can enjoy listening to music, shopping at local vendors' stands, playing games, and of course, watching a parade.
McCormick’s Creek State Park
Did you know that Indiana’s first-ever state park was McCormick’s Creek? Did you also know that it was founded on July 4, 1916? If you prefer a slower pace or want to enjoy the scenic trails this holiday, you can go hiking in the beautiful McCormick’s Creek State Park, located in Owen County. For a cozy overnight stay, you can extend your hike and stay at the McCormick’s Creek Inn, right within the park. There’s even a nature center where you can learn more about local wildlife and conservation efforts.
Tier Ten Fireworks and Concert

The celebrations don’t have to end after the Fourth of July is over! Tier Ten Sports Campus, located in Owen County, is hosting the Tier Ten Fireworks and Concert on July 5th. You can anticipate a live concert, food, beer, and end the night with fireworks. It’s a perfect way to stretch out the holiday weekend and soak in more Fourth of July fun!
